Disc Brake Analysis Literature & Presentation
The purpose of this analysis is to understand the behavior of a ventilated disc under heavy duty braking and design a disc that would not fail under these conditions.
To get an understanding of the knowledge available for this particular application, we researched the available literature. From our literature review we learned that hermal stresses contribute greatly to failure in the disc brake. A CAD model of the disc brake will be created in Solidworks and using the built in simulation package we will conduct a thermal distribution and a thermal stress analysis to simulate heavy duty braking conditions as well as a static analysis.
Below is the literature review that we wrote as a group, as well as the presentation of our results. Prepared for a Finite Element Analysis class.
